Wow…6 months. It’s been a crazy wild ride.
As I reflect on the last six months one thing is for certain: TIME FLIES
Back when I was first out of surgery, I felt like time was going by so slow. I was dreading every day Becuase I couldn’t walk or do anything I was normally used to doing. But looking back now, time just flew by.
It’s fun to look back and see where I started and to see where I am now. Right after surgery, I wasn’t even able to get out of bed without having my blood pressure drop, but each day I got stronger and finally was able to go home in a wheel chair. I remember the entire month of June I was stuck inside the house. I was too weak to be out and about. But by July I found myself driving up to Traverse City to go camping. Each day I got stronger and stronger.
Today I am so much stronger. I can stand here and complete ten unassisted squats, but two weeks ago that almost seemed impossible. I can ride a bike for at least 15 minutes. And now I can walk about a quarter of a mile. All of these things seemed so easy a year ago, but today that’s the limit my body has. Learning to go slow and ease into things has definitely been one of my biggest challenges. It’s definitely frustrating, but yet so rewarding when I accomplish something I’ve been working towards.
Even though it’s been a difficult road, I’m thankful for where I am today. And I’m excited to see where I’ll be at 6 months from now. But for now, I’m just gonna keep working to get this body stronger.
