It’s Okay to Take a Break

I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and a happy new year. I would love to hear what everyone chose to do over their break. I chose to take a little break from the blog during the holidays to focus on family and just to give myself some rest. For those of you that do not know, I coach full time, nanny full time, and pick up other side jobs here and there including dog sitting, working at MSA Sport Spot, and any other side job that comes my way. So my plate tends to be super full most of the time. So when I had the opportunity to take a two week break I definitely took it. And it got me thinking about what to blog about. We live in a society that pushes us to constantly work, even during holidays or times that we should be focusing on rest and other things. So after some reflecting and thinking I decided to talk about rest and what it means to rest and take a break from the busyness of life.

Taking a break doesn’t necessarily mean sit and don’t do anything, now it could be if that is what your body needs. But it could mean doing something that relaxes you. For example, playing games with my family is something that is relaxing to me. So during the holidays I was able to take a long weekend and head home and spend some time with them. We definitely played a lot of board games. By far something my body needed to reset itself. Another thing that I do to take a break or rest to reset my body is to light a candle, put a face mask on and either take a hot shower or bath. This helps relax my body and helps me clear my mind and doesn’t take up a lot of time either. For others it may be reading a book, going to dinner with a friend, going to get coffee, shopping. Anything that can restart your body or give you a little breather from your normal routine. And who knows maybe even taking one day to do absolutely nothing but sleep, I had one of those days and boy did I need it. I would love to hear what you all did for your rest/break days, so please comment on this post. Even if you only took one day during the week, or ten minutes a day to rest and reset your body. Sometimes that’s all you need. If you didn’t take a break I encourage you to take some time this next week to give yourself that rest. Feel free to document it and tag me in it! I would love to see what you guys come up with during your rest times!
