Slow Down

I never know how to start my posts…so I’m just going to dive right into this one.

Before my surgery I made the decision to step away from my current soccer coaching job to pursue a different coaching opportunity in futsal. That new coaching opportunity has just started and I am absolutely loving it! However, I’m not here today to talk about coaching. I’m here to talk about the freedom I had this fall because I didn’t have to coach. I was able to do more things because I was able to just take a break and enjoy my life.

One of the biggest things that I was able to do, was to support my siblings in their interests. For example, my brother who’s a senior in high school was having one of the best seasons of his high school career. I was able to make it to almost every game. It was such a blessing to watch him compete and do the thing he loves. I even had the opportunity to watch him and his team win state!

Another thing I was able to do was attend my sisters’ play. I love watching them act and be on stage. They shine so bright, and their personalities shine through being up on that stage. I still don’t know how they can go on stage in front of so many people.

I’ve also been able to spend more time at home and create stronger relationships with my siblings, who are years younger than me. My youngest brother is 9 years old, and going to his soccer games has been so fun. He’s such a character and my favorite thing is his celebrations after he scores a goal.

I have been thinking about it a lot, and it’s crazy how life gets so busy and time just flies by. But slowing down to enjoy the little things helps make it worth it. I have so many memories from the last few months that I would have never had if I had decided to coach during the fall.

I usually like to try to incorporate some advice into my posts, and I think on this one all I have to say is SLOW DOWN! Time goes by so fast. Take time to spend time with family, take that friend for coffee, do something you want to do. You’ll never be able to go back in time, but you can look back and enjoy all the memories. Don’t get so sucked into working that you miss out on little things.

I hope this inspires you to make time to do something fun and slow down and make more memories!
